How to use it
- Type or paste a message in the Text box. The Morse code appears on the right as you type.
- To read a code, paste dots and dashes into the Morse code box instead. Put a space between letters and a slash between words.
- Set the speed. 20 WPM is a common operating speed; 5 to 13 WPM is easier when you are learning.
- Press Play to hear it and see the light flash. Turn off Sound if you only want the light.
- Press Download .wav to save the audio, or copy either box.

How the timing works
Morse speed uses the word PARIS, which is exactly 50 time units long. At W words per minute one unit lasts 1200 / W milliseconds, so at 20 WPM a dot is 60 ms.
- Dot: 1 unit. Dash: 3 units.
- Gap inside a letter: 1 unit. Gap between letters: 3 units. Gap between words: 7 units.
- Farnsworth spacing keeps each letter at full speed but stretches the gaps, so you learn the sound of a letter instead of counting dots. Set it below the main speed to use it.
Questions
How do I translate Morse code to English?
Paste the code into the Morse code box. Separate letters with a space and words with a slash (/) or three spaces. The English text appears in the Text box straight away. Any group that is not a valid code shows as # and is listed under the buttons.
What is SOS in Morse code?
SOS is ... --- ...: three dots, three dashes, three dots. In real distress use it is sent as one run with no letter gaps, but it is written the same way.
Can I hear the Morse code and download it?
Yes. Press Play to hear it through your speakers at the speed and tone you set, and the light next to the buttons flashes in time. Download .wav saves the same audio as a file you can share or put in a video.
What does WPM mean in Morse code?
Words per minute, measured with the standard word PARIS. At 20 WPM a dot lasts 60 ms. Learners often start at 5 to 13 WPM; 13 WPM was the old US amateur General class test speed.
What is Farnsworth spacing?
A way to learn Morse by sending each letter at a fast speed but adding extra space between letters and words. You hear the letter as one sound, and the overall speed stays slow enough to follow. Set the Farnsworth slider lower than the main speed to turn it on.
Is my message uploaded anywhere?
No. The translation, audio and .wav file are all made by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
