What CTC hides
Cost-to-company is not bank credit. This page models the deductions it can see under the new tax regime for FY 2026-27:
- Employer PF (optional checkbox): same % as employee on PF wage; usually inside CTC, never hits your account.
- Employee PF:
PF% × PF wage(default 12% × half of CTC, editable; many employers still cap statutory wages at Rs 15,000/month). - Professional tax: optional rupee amount (state tables vary; often capped near Rs 2,500/year).
- New-regime income tax: on roughly CTC − employer PF − standard deduction (default Rs 75,000), via the shared tax helper (87A rebate included).
- Other deductions: blunt catch-all for items that never pay out.
Offer letters also bury gratuity accruals, variable pay at 100% achievement, and insurance. Do not count variable you have not earned. Compare regimes in the old vs new tool if you claim 80C/HRA. Not tax advice. Disclaimer.
Monthly take-home bridge (defaults)
CTC Rs 12,00,000, PF wage Rs 6,00,000, employee PF 12%, employer-PF-in-CTC on, std deduction Rs 75,000, PT/other blank:
| Bridge step | Annual | Monthly (÷12) |
|---|---|---|
| CTC | Rs 12,00,000 | Rs 1,00,000 |
| − Employer PF (12% × PF wage) | − Rs 72,000 | − Rs 6,000 |
| − Employee PF | − Rs 72,000 | − Rs 6,000 |
| − New-regime tax (after std deduction + 87A on this base) | − Rs 0 | − Rs 0 |
| In-hand | Rs 10,56,000 | Rs 88,000 |
Taxable income on this path ≈ CTC − employer PF − Rs 75,000 = Rs 10,53,000, inside the helper’s new-regime 87A band, so tax totals Rs 0 here. Raise CTC or lower the rebate-eligible base and tax appears. Always match PF wage and PT to your payslip.
Matching your payslip
Edit PF wage to the figure payroll uses (including any statutory ceiling). Enter professional tax as the annual amount your state/employer withholds, not a guessed percentage. Uncheck employer PF if your “CTC” is already cash salary only. Ignores bonus timing, ESOP tax, and NPS quirks beyond the Other box.
FAQ
How does this CTC to in hand calculator work?
In-hand is CTC minus employer PF (if that sits inside CTC), employee PF, professional tax, new-regime income tax, and other deductions. Monthly in-hand is the annual remainder divided by 12. PF is employee % times an editable PF wage (default half of CTC).
Which tax regime is used for take-home?
New regime is the default for FY 2026-27, so this page taxes (CTC minus employer PF minus the new-regime standard deduction of Rs 75,000, editable). Compare old vs new if you claim 80C or HRA. This is not tax advice.
Is employer PF part of CTC?
Usually yes: employer PF is a CTC line that never hits your bank. Leave the checkbox on to subtract it from both taxable salary and in-hand. Uncheck if your CTC is already cash salary only.
Is my CTC uploaded?
No. CTC, PF, tax, and the breakup run in your browser. Nothing is sent to ToolPetal.
