Markdown to HTML Converter

CommonMark-ish subset

Headings, emphasis, strong, links, images, lists, fenced code, and simple paragraphs are converted to HTML in the browser. The preview helps you catch broken nests before you paste into a CMS.

This is not MDX, not GitHub-flavored tables in every case, and not a sanitizer for untrusted authors. Treat output as markup you still review.

Worked example: headings, bold text and lists

Markdown # Hello plus a bold phrase becomes an h1 and <strong> in the HTML pane. A list with two items becomes ul/li pairs. Links keep the href you wrote; they are not rewritten through a proxy.

Limits

Raw HTML inside Markdown may pass through depending on the converter path; do not paste untrusted Markdown from strangers on a session where XSS matters. Footnotes, math, and plugin syntax need a fuller toolchain.

Expected structure includes an h2 and an ordered list with three items. If your CMS wraps output in extra containers, paste only the inner fragment you need.

Worked example: why the blank line before a list matters

Input # Release notes, a blank line, then - Fixed **login** bug. The output is an <h1> heading followed by a <ul> with one <li> that wraps "login" in <strong>. The blank line matters: without it some Markdown flavors treat the list as part of the heading paragraph.

Pitfalls

• Flavor differences. Tables, task lists, and strikethrough come from GitHub Flavored Markdown and are not part of original Markdown. Check the output if your source came from GitHub.
• Raw HTML in Markdown. Markdown allows inline HTML. If the text came from untrusted users, sanitize the resulting HTML before putting it on a page.
• Line breaks. A single newline usually does not create a <br>. End the line with two spaces or leave a blank line for a new paragraph.
