Camel Case Converter

What each target case means

This page splits on non-alphanumeric boundaries and case changes inside words, then rebuilds into camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, or CONSTANT_CASE. Digits stay attached to neighboring tokens when that keeps identifiers readable (for example html2Text).

camelCase lowercases the first word. PascalCase capitalizes every word including the first. snake and kebab use separators between lower words. CONSTANT_CASE is upper snake, common for enums and env-style names.

Worked example: mixed separators in one input

Input hello_world-from toolPetal becomes:

Limits

Language-specific acronyms (HTTP, ID) are not special-cased beyond simple splits, so parseJSON may not round-trip to your preferred style. This is not a full AST rename for source code; review diffs when bulk-renaming public APIs.

Unicode letters are kept when they count as alphanumeric. Punctuation and whitespace still act as separators.

When bulk rename goes wrong

Converting a public API field from snake_case to camelCase without a compatibility layer breaks clients overnight. Generate both names, ship dual-read if you can, and reserve this tool for greenfield identifiers or one-off script cleanup, not silent production renames.

Worked example: acronyms like ID

Input user profile ID. camelCase gives userProfileId, PascalCase UserProfileId, snake_case user_profile_id, kebab-case user-profile-id, and CONSTANT_CASE USER_PROFILE_ID. Acronyms like ID are a style choice: some codebases prefer userProfileID. Pick one and stay consistent.

FAQ

Does camel case conversion upload my text?

No. Everything runs in the browser.

What is the difference between camel and Pascal?

camelCase lowercases the first word. PascalCase capitalizes every word including the first.

Can I convert many lines at once?

Yes. Paste one identifier per line if you want line-wise results; otherwise the whole blob is treated as one string depending on the mode controls on the page.

Will it preserve Unicode letters?

Letters outside ASCII are kept when they are alphanumeric in Unicode terms. Separators still split on punctuation and whitespace.

How are numbers handled?

Digits usually stay attached to the word next to them, so check names like version2Id in the output and adjust if your style guide splits them.

Is this the same as the case converter?

No. The case converter changes letter case of prose (upper, lower, title, sentence). This page reshapes identifiers for code.
